Kibler Park’s Leruo on world stage
Her ambition is to be Miss South Africa one day.
MODEL Leruo Nape (13) from Kibler Park is jetting off to Los Angeles on July 5 to represent South Africa at the World Championship of Performing Arts, in the modelling category.
The timing for this competition, taking place over two weeks, is perfect for the grade eight learner at Glenvista High School, as the schools are on break
Leruo is no novice in competing overseas. Early March last year she and her equally talented brother, Mmoke Nape, went to represent South Africa at a children’s modelling competition in Bulgaria; Little Mr and Miss Galaxy. They returned victorious when they won their categories.
Leruo started modelling at the tender age of nine. She already holds more than 20 titles, including Miss Petite Rand Show (which she has won twice), Miss Junior Face of the North, Miss Junior Matlosana, Miss Pre-teen Klerksdorp, Miss Pre-Teen Johannesburg, Miss Tween and Toddler of the World Senior Overall winner, Miss Junior Queen and King of SA, and Miss Pre-Teen Youth South Africa.
As the reigning Little Miss South Africa, she is very excited about representing her country among the best in the world. “It takes a lot of hard work and focus to achieve at this level. It is also important for children to understand that being a beauty queen means being a role model to the youth and being an ambassador for the brand or title. One is expected to be involved in fund-raising activities for the less fortunate and to officiate at functions,” said the little beauty queen.
Her ambition is to be Miss South Africa one day. “Considering how she is fairing, we believe that she will reach her stars. We wish her all of the best in all her endeavours,” said her mother and modelling coach, Gladys.
