The Glow Down:

Wild hair colours are taking the fashion world by storm, from pretty pastels to vibrant locks in every colour of the rainbow. But the most exciting, and recent, 2016 hair trend is neon hair or black-light hair.

This new trend for glow-in-the-dark shades has lit up salons and social media with hundreds of Instagram users posting images of their new neon hairdos. This trend is all about fun-coloured hair during the day and party hair at night. The look is achieved using special black-light sensitive hair dye to make tresses glow under UV light.

This colour trend will amp up any style – from colourful crisscross braids to transforming your curls into rings of light:

Whole Head: For those who glow hard, why not try a full head of phosphorescent pink, green or orange?

Bright Braids: Not as bold but want to brighten up your look? Why not add various streaks of colour, then braid across your crown or down your back.

Dip Dye: If dying your whole head scares you a bit, then why not try dip-dyeing your hair, neon tips are just as cool but less of a commitment.

Glitter: If this trend is a little too wild for you, you can always just touch up your roots with some UV glitter.

Their range offers strong pigments, off-the-wall colours and neon that glows under black lights. View their full range and stockists at www.anonamiss.co.za. Their selection of glow products, come in an array of neon colours in the Manic Panic semi-permanent hair dye range, styling gels, clip-in synthetic hair pieces, false eyelashes and cosmetic glitters that glow under UV light.

Tavis Brown, event organiser, said: “Each year we add more innovative elements to the event. It’s all about having a blast and getting fit while doing it. This year we’ve added extra glow zones, performers and entertainment – this really is where the run stops and the fun starts.”

Some DIY Tips:

*To use this at home, do a strand test first, taking a small portion of hair from behind the ear and monitoring the progression of colour.

*Always wear gloves when applying temporary hair dye, comb your hair thoroughly beforehand and don’t get any mixture in your eyes.

*Apply mixture evenly and thoroughly to your hair and leave in for around 30 minutes, at room temperature. Gentle dyes such as Manic Panic can be left in for hours to result in a more intense colour without any damage to the hair.

*Expose your hair to natural light for a while before it will glow in the dark. The longer you expose the hair to natural light, the brighter it will glow in the dark.

*Condition, condition, condition.
