Sewage spill irks residents

A sewage spill on Neville Road has been causing problems for residents.

A SEWAGE spill extending from the manhole at the intersection of Neville Road and Kowi Street to Letaba Street in Brackendowns, has reportedly been plaguing residents since January 18.

Several residents contacted the RECORD to complain about the smell, hygiene risks and having to navigate their way through the sewage.

According to one resident, who asked to remain anonymous and has been living in the area for 20 years, the spill has been a problem since Monday, January 18. “It’s been going on for two weeks and the smell has been unbearable.”

On Tuesday, February 2, a team from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality was spotted on Neville Road, beginning to work on the problem.

The RECORD is awaiting comment from the EMM.
