Johannesburg Big Band at The Movies
The talented Johannesburg Big Band will partner with KB Motsilanyane and Brandon October to host a show that movie and music fans alike will not forget.
ORMONDE – The show is set to take place at The Lyric at Gold Reef City on Wednesday November 25 at 20:00.
Returning to the theatre after four successful shows, the 17-piece big band, directed by Adam Howard, has something for the whole family with Johannesburg Big Band At The Movies.
Adam has an award-winning music company, Howard Music, and has directed, composed, produced and performed music for many of South Africa’s top artists including Hugh Masekela, Freshlyground, Loyiso Bala and The Parlotones.
Celebrating songs from your favourite block buster movies, this show will have both music and movie enthusiasts singing along to theme songs from the classics; Casablanca, The Sound Of Music, Superman, Star Wars, Beauty and the Beast, Unchained Melody, Son of a Preacher Man and F.A.M.E. This show is sure to bring something for everyone!
Joining the band is multi-award winning KB Motsilanyane, of Rhythm City prominence and Brandon October, pop singer-songwriter, who achieved the runner-up position in the first season of the reality television show, South African Idols.
“We are excited to host Johannesburg Big Band At The Movies following the completion of the new movies@ Gold Reef City theatre,” says Gareth Kaschula, Marketing Manager at Gold Reef City.
“Our recently refurbished property features a six-cinema complex that is themed as a Victorian train station, a bowling alley and fast food court. An array of family restaurants have also opened and these include Vigour & Verve, a Spur Steak Ranch, Boston BBQ, Calisto’s and The Raj, which gives you the perfect excuse to treat yourself to dinner and a show,” added Kaschula.
Tickets are available from Computicket and Gold Reef City’s Box Office at R135 to R185 per person.
Discounts for groups of 10 or more, senior citizens, scholars and students apply.
