French ambassador visits Mondeor High School

Mondeor High School was recently honoured to receive a visit by the French Ambassador to SA and dignitaries from the French Embassy as well as a representative from Bombela Operational Company (RATP Group).

MONDEOR – Taking up the challenge of the future to see more high schools throughout South Africa have access to books in French in their libraries, Mondeor High School was thrilled to welcome Elisabeth Barbier (Ambassador of France) as well as Arnaud Legrand from Bombela Operational Company (RATP Group). “This is indeed an honour for us at Mondeor High and we look forward to opening a French section in our library with the generous donation of books we have received today,” said Heather Chapman (deputy principal and French teacher).

Barbier addressed learners and said, “Keep in mind language is not a barrier but a bridge, a train, a road to another country. France is a proud partner of South Africa and our goal is to make a dream come true in many of the high schools in SA, to enable learners to have easy access to French books. I thank your school principal, Mrs Nicoloau and her deputy principal and French teacher, Mrs Chapman, for welcoming us to your school.”

Later an interview was held between Barbier and two of Mondeor High’s learners, Tebogo Sekhaulelo and Somkelisiwe Mketshane, which was filmed for the French Embassy in SA.
