Mandela Day celebrated by Boots for Dreams

On Saturday July 25, Boots for Dreams hosted their annual Mandela Day at Rietvlei Soccer Park, Rietvlei Zoo Farm.

BRACKENHURST –  Approximately 100 boys were invited from disadvantaged areas around Johannesburg. Seeff Properties kindly sponsored their training shirts for the day which they received with a warm milo on arrival.

The day consisted of three sessions filled with fun. Each group participated in a soccer clinic which was hosted by SuperSport Soccer Clinic with Brendon Lohan, Coach Storm and Coach Hamilton. Pano Dimas and Kyle Le Roux (ambassador of Boots for Dreams) assisted as young leaders in the soccer clinic.

The second session was hosted by Sweatbox boxing gym, Ray Cerfonteyn and Paul Kamanga accompanied with volunteers from Fight with Insight introduced the young boys to boxing. The third session was a fun counselling session hosted by Robyn le Roux and Chayil Foundation.

Sponsorship by Murray & Roberts enabled each club attending to receive Umbro Balls and equipment to take home with them.

Some young players really performed in the mini tournament at the end of the day and were awarded prizes received by Cassim Sports. The highlight of their day was prizes signed and sponsored by Miguel Timm (professional soccer player) and Reyaad Pieterse (Kaizer Chiefs Goal Keeper).

Boots for Dreams not only honoured 67 minutes for Mandela Day but empowered players and coaches on the day. They achieved what they always set to achieve which is to Make a Difference through the Power of Sport.
