Provide some comfort on Mandela Day

The Epic Foundation is calling on the public to make a difference in the lives of rape survivors on Mandela Day

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Mandela Day takes place on July 18. It was inspired by a call from Nelson Mandela for the next generation to take on the burden of leadership in addressing the world’s social injustices.

Epic Foundation is asking participants to join them in packing comfort packs, used during the initial reporting phases at police stations and hospitals for rape survivors. The packing will take place on July 18, from 09:30 until 15:00 at the Epic Foundation office, Unit D10 at the Supreme Industrial Park, on Heidelberg and Southern Klipriviers roads in Steeledale. People who would like to participate are invited to RSVP before July 10 to info@epicfoundation.org.za or 082 940 6230

If companies would like to get their staff involved in the project, they are encouraged to contact Epic Foundation and they will forward the details and provide guidance on arrangements.

People who are unable to join in on July 18 are welcome to donate goods. The packs are made for men, women, and children. Items which are needed are: body lotion, bottled water, brown paper bags, chips/snacks, colouring in books, pen, crayons, pencils, cool drinks, deodorant, face cloths, hair combs/brushes, hair elastics and clips, lip balm, plasters, sanitary towels, shampoo, small notebooks, soap, soft toys, surgical gloves, sweets, tissues, toothbrushes, toothpaste, underwear for women, men and children, Vaseline, and wet wipes.
