Charity Race Day a major success

SOJO and South Rotary Club hosted the annual charity race for charity benefit

TURFFONTEIN – Every seat at the Centenary Room was occupied by attendants who were there to support the SOJO and Rotary Annual Charity Race Day and the honourees of the day.

The event took place on March 14 at Turffontein Race Course, where special guests, Reach for Recovery Breast Cancer and United Cerebral Palsy Association (UCPA) received generous donations of a third of the net proceeds at the event.

Although the spirit of giving did not stop there and prizes were awarded to winners in three categories, winners of the best dressed category, Ryan and Bianca Canway, received One Direction tickets.

Best dressed lady was won by Grace Hughes, who received Spa treatments from Sizanani Spa. The best dressed man was awarded a service tool from Robot Paint and Hardware.

Please go to www.comarochronicle.co.za and search for the video of Nicky Vakaloudis (SOJO) and Peter Soester (South Rotary Club), where they in their own words explain the importance of the charity race and the many lives this event have touched.

SOJO CEO Nicky Vakaloudis said: “I would like to thank one of our main sponsors, Phumelela Turffontein Race Course, who generously donated towards this event; without their contribution the event wouldn’t be as successful. Thank you Sue Green for sponsoring and entertaining us on the day also our MC Victor Randall for his charismatic personality, which added flavour throughout the day.

“SOJO especially acknowledges the contribution imparted by the Rotary Club and their guests. Everyone came dressed in pink in support of breast cancer awareness.

“The Charity Race Day is a social and businesses event, a day out at the races, while entertaining clients and guests with a three-course meal and donating funds to worthy causes.”
