Education MEC shocked by death of educator

Death of educator shocks community and education officials.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – The Gauteng MEC for Education Mr Panyaza Lesufi expressed shock upon hearing of the sudden death of an educator who died while at a marking centre.

“We are deeply shocked and saddened to hear of the death of one of our own, who has been described as a valued and respected educator by his peers,” said MEC Lesufi.

“On behalf of the entire education fraternity in Gauteng, I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the family of the deceased educator and wish them peace and comfort during this difficult and sad time. We hope that the family will find comfort in the knowledge that we too share their loss and regard it as a huge blow to education in Gauteng and the country at large,” he added.

The educator was reported by the GDE to have collapsed on December 10 while marking Mechanical Technology.

The department sent a team of officials to the family of the deceased educator to extend condolences on behalf of the department and offer support to the family.
