Christmas tree for St Mary’s Children’s Home

As in past years, The Glen Shopping Centre and Birthdays, The Glen, have organised the Christmas tree for the children of St Mary’s Children’s Home.

OAKDENE – Many children in the South will enjoy a family Christmas with lots of gifts to open on Christmas morning. With Christmas a time for giving, you can make a real difference to the children who live at St Mary’s.

The Christmas tree is situated in The Glen Shopping Centre, next to the Computicket and Customer Care Desk, directly opposite Carol Boyes store.

Gift tags for all the children who live at the home, as well as tags for toiletries and groceries, adorn the tree and all you have to do is choose a gift tag, and purchase all or some of what is written on the tag. Once you have bought the gift you can wrap it in Christmas paper yourself, attach the gift tag and hand it in at either the Customer Care Desk or Management Offices on the top floor. Or purchase the gift, attach the tag, hand it in and the gift will be wrapped for you. Don’t forget to attach the gift tag. This is important and will ensure all the children receive a gift. If you would like to purchase toiletry or grocery items, hand those in at the same place.

All the gifts and toiletry/ grocery items will be delivered to St Mary’s Children’s Home before Christmas, insuring the children have a gift to open on Christmas morning.

As the tree was put up, three-year-old Kaydence Long, chose a gift tag.

“We’ve made this our annual family project and it’s a wonderful feeling to know we have made a child happy on Christmas morning. As soon as the tree for St Mary’s goes up we choose a couple of tags and enjoy going Christmas shopping for children at the home. It has taught our children to care more about others,” said a Glenvista woman.

This year you too can make a difference in a child’s life by visiting The Glen Shopping Centre and choosing a gift tag from the Christmas tree.
