Response from Clr Dos Santos

MONDEOR – The article which appeared in the Comaro CHRONICLE on Wednesday March 25, page 4, Ridgeway residents unhappy with neighbour’s building, has had a response from Ward 54 councillor, Sergio Dos Santos.

“The property in question has been an issue for about five or six years now. The previous councillor struggled to get anywhere with this case and it seems like I am headed the same way.

“We have been told by the Building Inspectorate that the plans were approved but the owners needed to submit a deviation plan. I cannot confirm that this has been done. We were then told that a summons has been issued and has been handed over to legal, which can take quite some time for the City of Johannesburg to enforce its own By-Law infringements.

“I have recently submitted questions to the council for the MMC of Development Planning to respond so we can get a better indication as to where this matter is currently. Once I receive this I will submit it to the newspaper.

“My suggestion, as I have done in the past, is to refer the matter to lawyers to deal with the civil case, which pertains to the damage of the complainant’s property, such as her pool,” said Sergio dos Santos.
