Wife killer George Barkhuizen guilty on four charges

Bail has been revoked and Barkhuizen will be sentenced on September 29 in the Johannesburg High Court.

GEORGE Barkhuizen, who was accused of shooting his wife Odette Barkhuizen on June 11, 2015, in Oakdene, has been found guilty.

He is facing charges of premeditated murder, another three charges of fraud, and also charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. Barkhuizen, who has said all along he was not guilty, shot Odette twice and he made out it was an attempted hijacking attack.

Her vehicle was stolen but found a few hours later, not far from where she was murdered.

The vehicle was captured on CCTV footage, being driven away from the scene, but the camera didn’t clearly pick up if there was just a driver or passengers, as well.

Bail has been revoked and Barkhuizen will be sentenced on September 29 in the Johannesburg High Court.
