New voting station

If you are unsure of your voter registration status you can SMS your ID number to 32810.

THE Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) has decided to open a new voting station at Frances Vorwerg School, 370 Rifle Range Road, Haddon.

This voting station will cater for the residents of Glenanda North and the complexes based in Oakdene Parks Drive. Historically these residents would have been required to vote at Townsview Primary School, but due to recent growth in population, there was a need to create a new voting station.

Councillor Michael Crichton said: “I would like to encourage the residents of Glenanda North and Oakdene Parks Drive to register to vote at Frances Vorwerg School on January 26 and 27. The residents who reside within this voting station’s precinct are likely to find this voting station is closer to where they live and is going to be more easily accessible.”

Ward 23

VOTING stations for this weekend January 26 and 27 from 8am to 5pm are: Bassonia Baseline Church, Glenanda Primary School, Glenvista High School, Comaro Valley Nursery School, Marionite Church Liefde en Vrede and Kibler Park Fire Station.

Although the youth can register to vote at 16 years of age, they will only be able to vote when they turn 18. Anyone turning 18 before the end of May will be able to vote in the upcoming elections.

You can use you bar coded ID card, Green bar coded ID book or a temporary ID to register to vote. Visit www.elections.org.za for more information.
