Two golfers robbed at Kempton Park Golf Club

The club takes the security of its members and guests very seriously and takes every precaution to protect members and guests of the club

Two golf players were robbed of their belongings at Kempton Park Golf Club on December 21.

According to Craig Bell, general manager of the club, the incident occurred on the 18th tee-box.

The club’s management offered the couple every support possible when they returned to the clubhouse. The couple elected to report the matter directly to the South African Police Services, Bell said.

“The club takes the security of its members and guests very seriously and takes every precaution to protect members and guests of the club. Access control at the main gate is actively enforced together with roving guards on the course.

“Unfortunately, not all access points to the club can be monitored at all times and this was the first time that this particular area has been targeted, being accessed via a public road which also provides access to Dries Niemandt Park and the other sporting and recreational facilities in the precinct,” Bell said.

“Other isolated areas on the course itself are patrolled regularly by our security company.

“The club will, together with all other stakeholders within the sporting and recreational precinct, keep monitoring the security situation and continue to be vigilant in providing a safe enjoyable environment.”
