THIS December, The Comedy Comedy Club, is coming to Mall of the South to add some festive cheer to the holiday season. The Comedy Comedy Club brings you more than 30 of South Africa’s most talented comedians every weekend at level two, shop F118 (next to Rocomamas). Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 5pm. 7 CHRISTMAS Market at Sha-Mani Lodge, 30 Doncaster Road, New Market, Alberton, on December 7 to December 9. This promises to be a spectacular weekend event running into the night with delicious food from various stalls, more than 80 craft and market stalls, gift wrapping station in support of Irwin Animal Rescue Centre, children’s activities throughout market hours with Olaf, Anna and Elsa are visiting on a Saturday – come play in the snow with them, jumping castle, face painting, pony rides, petting zoo, free dance mouse class (Saturday) and free playball session (Saturday). Christmas lights will be on in the gardens in the evenings with music entertainment on the Friday evening and Carols by Candlelight on a Saturday evening. The market is open Friday from 1pm to 9pm, Saturday from 9am to 9pm and Sunday from 9am to 3pm. Entry fee is R20 per person with children under the age of seven enter free. 8 A CHARITY Christmas Concert by the 4 Tenors Coert Grobbelaar, Phiwe Makaula, Mmusi Morekhure and Lucky Sibande, will be held on December 8 at 3pm at the NG Church Alberton South, corner Candican and Phantom streets, Raceview. This concert will appeal to young and old who love classical and contemporary Christmas music. Music by Rossini, Bizet and Pentatonix will be performed. The Adorare Deus Group Ensemble and Cantare Children’s choir will also be part of this concert. Tickets at R50 per person are available at the door. Children under the age of 12 free. A toy or non-perishable food will be welcome for those in need.

NEW 9 ENJOY the hiking scenery through the highveld grasses of Melville Koppies with the three-koppie group hiking up to 8km (about three hours) through the Melville Koppies on December 9. Park, meet and pay in the upper parking area of Marks Park, Judith Road, Emmarentia. Hike sets off at 8.30am sharp so please arrive well on time. Cost is R60 for adults and R40 for children. 13 SA MILITARY History Society, Johannesburg branch, will meet again on December 13 at the auditorium of the Museum of Military History, Erlswold Way, Saxonwold (next to the zoo) at 8pm. This will be a DVD evening to be followed by a year-end function. The DVD is Deterrence from the deep, the US Navy Ohio class ballistic missile submarines – running time 42 minutes. Wives are welcome to come along with their husbands and enjoy the evening with us. Visitors are charged R30 per person, which includes tea or coffee after the lecture.
