Indi Pop-Up Book Fair at Mall of the South

“Reading opens up minds and children need to read books. With social media, many youngsters have never even read a book. How sad is this?”

AS social media is seemingly taking over, many youngsters today don’t indulge in reading books. Jann Weeratunga from Winchester Hills, along with a group of local authors, held an Indi Pop-Up Book Fair at Mall of the South’s Doppio Zero on Saturday, November 17.

“We wanted to highlight how important reading is and if children are introduced to books at an early age, their love for books will grow,” Jann added.

General manager of Doppio Zero, Mall of the South, Maryn Wiggill, envisages hosting the group of authors regularly at the restaurant and coffee shop.

“Reading opens up minds and children need to read books. With social media, many youngsters have never even read a book. How sad is this?” added Maryn.
