Tips on how to keep safe at home during the festive season

DURING this festive time, ensure that your children are safe at all times.

• Never run wires under a carpet.

• Do not hang washing over a heater or on the refrigerator’s condenser.

• Do not leave electrical appliance cords hanging off the cupboards where a toddler can pull on them.

• By no means leave gates open where children can roam into the streets.

• Do not leave children unattended in a motor vehicle with closed windows and locked doors.

• Do not allow small children to go to the shops on their own.

• Under no circumstances leave a candle or paraffin lamp alight all night or while you go out.

• Do not allow a small child to stand on the front passenger seat of a moving vehicle.
