House safety precautions breakfast meeting for seniors at Golden Falls Spur

The programme had been successful in positively engaging the elderly who enjoy the time they spend at the meetings.

HOUSE safety precautions such as functional alarm systems, electric fences and car tracking systems should not be taken for granted in ensuring the safety of our community members, an official has said.

Speaking at a breakfast meeting for seniors held at Golden Falls Spur, Columbine Mall, Suideroord, on June 19, co-ordinator of the meeting Michelle Pelser emphasised different safety precautions for senior citizens, including viable house alarms and car tracking systems.

“We should always activate our alarms whether one is going out for a minute, an hour or longer, it takes a few seconds for break-ins to happen hence our alarms should always stay activated,” she said.

Michelle also said the programme had been successful in positively engaging the elderly who enjoy the time they spend at the meetings as it proves how much the community cares for them.

The seniors also learned about medicinal products for winter from different organisation present at the meeting.

Sponsored by Golden Falls Spur and Sasol Garage Swartgoud, and co-ordinated by Mondeor Precinct Sector Two Community Policing Forum, the meeting hosted guest speakers from Himalaya Drug Company, Dischem, City of Johannesburg EMS and Austell Laboratories.

Pretash Jivan from Himalaya Drug Company discussed liver protection for chronic patients using Himalaya Liv52 to help repair, restore and regenerate liver function for everyone with a special emphasis on senior citizens who already use a lot of medication.
