TWO of South Africa’s most experienced stuntmen had a narrow escape in Boksburg at Carnival City last week when a test run with a quad bike through a fire tunnel did not go according to plan.
Enrico Schoeman, who resides in the East Rand and André de Kock from Alberton, are in the process of trying to set a new Guinness distance World Record for riding a quad bike through a tunnel of fire.
The pairing already holds the Guinness World Record for riding a motorcycle through a tunnel of fire, set at 120m in 2012.

On April 25, the evening’s quad bike test run of 30m at Carnival City went wrong when the 400cc Honda’s engine cut out due to air starvation near the end of the tunnel.
In the process, the rear wheels locked momentarily, the bike slid sideways, hit the side of the tunnel and flipped.
Luckily, it crashed just outside of the flaming tunnel, and the two riders only suffered cuts and bruises.
The team will go back to the drawing board, with another test run planned at Carnival City within the next two months.
