Book under the belt for diligent worker

Thorn of Love is a poem and poetry book that speaks of past experiences in different relationships and sells for only R100.

NKANYISO ‘Asanda’ Moyo (35) from Rosettenville has launched his first poem and poetry book called Thorns of Love.

The husband and father of a three-month-old boy works at Food Lovers Market at Comaro Crossing. He was born in Zimbabwe where he completed his schooling career and two years of advanced level education. In 2005 he moved to South Africa as his mother had no money to continue paying for his schooling.

After moving to SA Nkanyiso worked as a contractor/builder in the Eastern Cape from 2005 to 2009. He then moved to Johannesburg where he worked as a security guard in Glenanda from 2009 to 2011. In 2011 he started his new job at Food Lovers Market. He is now the cheese and deli supervisor.

Thorn of Love is a book that speaks of past experiences in different relationships and sells for only R100.

“My book tells people not to hold onto relationships that don’t work. It took me about three years to write and I am proud to have released it,” said the author.

With a passion for reading and writing, Nkanyiso knows three languages fluently and is looking for someone to teach him Afrikaans. Thorns of Love is written in English but his second book will be written in Ndebele and released in June.

“I used to play soccer in Zimbabwe and I was very good at it. Unfortunately, I was unable to make a career out of it. When my son grows up I want him to be a soccer player,” laughed Nkanyiso when we asked him about his hobbies.

Nkanyiso works six days a week and asks that the community support him by buying his book so he can continue with his passion, which is writing.

To purchase the book contact Nkanyiso on 071 995 4679 or email asandankanyiso@gmail.com
