Classic horseracing at Turffontein

Turfonmtein racecourse action will be packed with fast horses, classic cars, gin and craft beer and a prawn festival of note.

IF you’re looking for a day packed with really fast horses, classic cars, gin, craft beer and a prawn festival of note then make sure that you head to Turffontein Racecourse on April 7.

Fathers and sons will enjoy Smith’s Garage and Classic Cars, who will be displaying the classic favourites from yesteryear and moms and daughters can meander through the Weekend Market for their much-needed fix of retail therapy.

The day wouldn’t be complete without the magnificent thoroughbreds gracing us with their presence in an unbelievably fast fashion down the straight. The day is host to the second leg of the Triple Crown and Wilgerbosdrift Triple Tiara series, so 12 races on the card will ensure that you are entertained from lunchtime until night.

This series will also tie in with the renowned annual Joburg Prawn Festival, where a large variety of seafood and other dishes will be on offer through independent vendors and Isizwe Hospitality will tantalise your taste buds with various menus throughout the rooms in the main building.

For the few that didn’t get to enjoy the Gin and Craft Beer Festival on March 3 – fear not – the organisers have managed to secure their services again and a large variety of gin cocktails and craft beers will be on offer so don’t miss out on this opportunity.

This is a day for the whole family to enjoy, so be sure to bring everyone, both young and old, for a beautiful day in the city.
