Cleaning-up Swartkoppies Road

Local volunteers and staff got together to help clean up Swartkoppies Road from Rietvlei Zoo Farm towards Mall of the South.

AS part of their pledge to the A Re Sebetseng Clean-up Campaign, the first Rietvlei led Swartkoppies clean-up took place at Rietvlei Zoo Farm on February 17.

Local volunteers and staff got together to help clean up Swartkoppies Road from Rietvlei Zoo Farm towards Mall of the South. Ward 23 councillor, Sarah Wissler, joined the clean-up much to the delight of the volunteers.

Tandi Potgieter, founder of Empowering You SA arranged the clean-up in conjunction with Rietvlei Zoo Farm. “We want to inspire all residents to join the A Re Sebetseng Clean-up Campaign and to set an example for others. In this way, we will not only create a cleaner environment but promote a sense of community. Let’s start the movement – What are you doing for your community?” Tandi stated.

Various businesses have also come on board and pledged their support. Uvex sponsored gloves, safety glasses and clothing, while Group 1 Nissan Renault The Glen have confirmed they will host a starting point as part of this campaign as of next month. Dealer principal, George Stegmann said: “We feel it is important for us to be part of the community and we wanted to support this important initiative.” Volunteers who complete this clean-up hosted by Group 1 Nissan Renault The Glen can then join the team for a boerewors roll.
