Going potty over potholes

Potholes reign in Poulton-Le-Fyle, a village in the North West of England.

RESIDENTS in Johannesburg South feel they have to put up with terrible potholes on a daily basis as they drive around the suburbs but on the other side of the world in Poulton-Le-Fyle, a village in the North West of England, potholes reign!

OUR OWN POTHOLE: South Road, Mulbarton, (which has now been filled).

According to a FaceBook group, Poulton Le Fyle Chat Group, potholes are causing huge issues within the community and photographs are posted daily of the disturbing issue!

BEWARE: You never know what you may find lurking in a pot hole in Poulton!

With this in mind I decided to post a message onto their FaceBook page – “I’m the News Editor of a paper in a suburb of Johannesburg, and our residents are often complaining about potholes! I see you have similar problems over there in Poulton. Can I do an article mentioning ‘your’ potholes and use some of your photos? Looking forward to hearing from you. Kind regards – Julie Maule (News Editor Comaro Chronicle).

BOATING LAKE: Pretty as a picture.

The response was amazing and comments and photographs came flying through from residents who live in Poulton-Le-Fylde (known as Poulton).

Sue Marham – Go for it.

Mark Bea – How about we all start a post called Poulton Pot Hole of the Week! Pictures and whereabouts included! Get snapping people.

Matt Feline – Passive aggressive way to get your local town council to deal with the potholes in the roads.

Martin Gardner – As admin it’s only reasonable that I go out and investigate the state of the roads in Pothole Le Fylde and meet fellow Potholians.

Debra Piney – I can imagine the story will be showing what a “real pot hole” looks like, and how ours are tiny in comparison lol.

Christine Squires – We’re famous!

Danielle Lousie – The dizzy heights of living in Poulton.

Max Carp – It’s not a pot hole, New tunnel to Johannesburg lol.

Michael John – Can we put little signs next to our potholes which say ‘This pothole is twinned with such and such a pothole in JoBurg’? And you can do vice-verse for all of yours!

David owens – If you pay all my expenses I’ll come over to SA and lecture on the potholes of Poulton.

Lindsay Mason – We could always start making a feature of them.

FLOWER POWER: Taking plant pots to a ‘hole’ new level!
BUMPY ROAD: Avoid.
CRAZY PAVING: Making the best of a poor situation.
PUDDLE TIMES TWO: Watch your step!
FLOWER POWER: Taking plant pots to a ‘hole’ new level!
OUR OWN POTHOLE: South Road, Mulbarton, (which has now been filled).

So, not be left out, I took a photo of the latest pothole in South Road in Mulbarton. Maybe we should also plant a few flowers or make use of it in some other way? Any ideas folks?
