Celebrate love in style

Movies and romance under African skies this Valentine’s month.

CARNIVAL City offers lovers an exceptionally romantic night out under the stars this February, complete with a movie screening, picnic basket and love out in the open air.

Laugh a little with that special one as the romantic comedy, Love Actually, is aired on a big screen outdoors, bringing back a little of that drive-in nostalgia. The cost per couple is R180 (or R100 per person) and this includes the movie, sweets and popcorn at Carnival City’s Sun Park on February 10, 2018. The expansive Sun Park is a versatile venue with a cash bar as well as a marquee should the weather not be ideal. Doors open at 6pm and the movie starts at 7pm. Tickets can be purchased from Computicket.

Couples can also choose to purchase a gourmet picnic basket, especially packed for two, containing all sorts of decadent treats. Guests are allowed to bring own blankets and beanbags but no chairs will be permitted.

There is a host of other activities to savour during the month of love at Carnival City. Catch a concert at the Big Top Arena or enjoy the music of a live band while tucking into speciality food and cocktails at the industrial styled Bru’s.

At the upmarket Harvest Grill and Wine, there is also a special offer made for two. Buy a burger at Harvest Grill & Wine on Thursdays during the month of February and get a second burger at half price. Alternatively, treat your loved one to a three-course meal on Valentine’s Day at R200 per person.

Start the evening by indulging in smoked salmon with confit, a tomato micro-herb salad and a mustard vinaigrette. Treat yourself and your significant other to braised short rib in red wine, steamed spring greens and garlic mash, all cooked to perfection. End off your unforgettable dinner with espresso panna cota with strawberry coulis and chocolate chilli drops. This offer is only valid on February 14. To reserve your seat, please call Harvest Grill and Wine Restaurant at 011 898 7526 from 12 noon.

If you are looking for something a little more casual, there is also a choice of action-packed entertainment to enjoy including laser games at the Lazer Zone, Go-Karting on a simulated Grand Prix circuit, action-packed arcade games at the Magic Company, the latest movies at Ster Kinekor and ten pin bowling.
