COUNCILLOR Sarah Wissler hosted the Ward 23 leg of the City’s A Re Sebetseng (let’s work) clean-up campaign at the Vorster spruit on Vorster Avenue on January 20.
The A Re Sebetseng clean-up campaign is carried out across all wards on the last Saturday of every month. A Re Sebetseng is modelled on the Rwanda Umaganda, which is also a monthly campaign bringing residents together to clean their city. Through the campaign, the city of Kigali is now known for being the cleanest in Africa.
Our own Ward 23 representatives, together with reigning Miss Earth Irini Moutzouris and Miss Earth representatives, made it their duty to clean up the Vorster spruit area. With their gloves and garbage bags in hand they all took to the street to help make Ward 23 a more pleasant environment.
Joburg South residents were welcomed to join the clean-up and took ownership of their city by supporting the campaign.
Should you wish to host your own clean-up in your suburb, please call 087 357 1126 or email aresebetseng@pikitup.co.za to arrange for full waste bags to be collected. Waste can also be kept in individual households until collection day.
