Conversation with strangers: In total control from behind the lens

We speak to a photographer from Winchester Hills.

TUMI Sekete (25) is a photographer at Noble Media Solutions in Winchester Hills and has explored many career avenues before finding his niche.

The gym fanatic was born in Soweto and relocated to Winchester Hills when he was only in grade one and attended Dalmondeor Primary and Hoërskool President High School. He was in the second generation English class in the school. After school Tumi attended the University of Johannesburg at a time where there was uproar among the students. This caused his marketing studies to be mixed with sports management. He ended up doing sports management as well as business management. He also played rugby throughout high school and university in the u-19 and u-21 teams.

After completing his studies he went on to join the family business for about three years.

“I always enjoyed photography and always did it for fun. It was only in December 2016 that I formally joined Noble Media and I have been friends with Tyrone (the owner) for many years. Since I joined it has been challenging for me but in a very creative way. I like the fact that every day is different. Every photo shoot is unique and it is simply awesome to have complete control over your own shot, a photo that no one else will have,” said Tumi.

With no doubt that photography is his passion, Tumi also enjoys listening to music, anything related to cars, gym and socialising. His motto is ‘what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger’. You can find Tumi on Instagram on tumi_sekete.
