Conversations with strangers: A mobile makeup artist

We speak to Innocentia Lediga, who runs a mobile make-up clinic in the South.

We took to the streets to find the next stranger to have a conversation with and you would not believe the hidden talent that the South has to offer.

We found Innocentia Sylvia Lediga (38), who was willing to share her story with us. Innocentia runs a mobile make-up clinic called Cential that operates in all areas of the South.

Innocentia was born and bred in Soweto. She relocated with her family to the Vaal when she was in high school and then moved back to Soweto, where she completed her diploma in beauty. She then worked for 10 years before deciding to open her own business. Innocentia then started Cential.

The determined and proud single mother of a 12-year-old girl rented a place in Meyersdal for about three months to run her beauty business. Innocentia then moved to Glenvista, where she worked for three and a half years.

Since leaving Glenvista, she has been running her own mobile clinic, specialising in make-up, manicures, pedicures, body treatments, facials and waxing, among others.

Professional: Innocentia Lediga runs her own mobile make-up clinic.

Innocentia travels to houses and office parks etc. and services those who are unable to do it for themselves. Her main focus is now make-up only.

“I enjoy helping women and making them feel beautiful. I go out to the disabled, the ill and the elderly and treat them because many cannot go out and do it themselves and cannot afford expensive treatments at salons.

“There are also stay-at-home mothers and mothers who cannot do make-up and nails, for example, by themselves, so I help them feel beautiful in the midst of chaos in their lives. Women need it because in doing so much they lose confidence and this helps them feel beautiful in the comfort of their own homes or work and similar. I make it convenient for those who can’t go out to salons,” said Innocentia.

Innocentia spoke of how she is focused on building her mobile make-up business that is still in its teething stages.

“I don’t really have hobbies, but church keeps me sane and I love reading. My times are very flexible and it depends on the customers’ needs,” said the businesswoman.

If you would like to get in touch with Innocentia, call her on 076 370 8087.
