Mounted Games riders hit the ground running

A SA team is jetting off to the USA in September to compete in the Nations Cup.

THREE Gauteng Mounted Games riders, Courtney MacKenzie, Donnelly MacKenzie and Samantha Kruger together with KwaZulu-Natal rider Storm White are jetting off to Kentucky USA in September to compete in the Nations Cup.

The team coach/manager is Megan Marr who hails from KZN.

This competition is only open to countries in the Southern Hemisphere whereas the World Championship is a truly international competition.

Teams taking part this year include Australia, New Zealand, USA and Canada.

Having met and competed against some of the international riders at previous competitions, including the Nations Cup hosted by South Africa last December, the women riders are looking forward to meeting up with old friends as well as ‘teaching’ them some new tricks. Friends off the field but competition are competition!

Gauteng Mounted Games chairman and coach Daniel Ferreira have told his riders “Go make SA proud and most of all, have fun!”

A mounted games demo will be held at Jumangi’s Riding Centre in Eikenhof on August 12 at 10.30am. There will also be Cowboy Dressage demos, mechanical bull, jumping competition and much more. Family fun day starting at 09.00am. For more details regarding English mounted games, contact Felicia on 082 339 9268.
