The Bag Lady

Checking out Easter treats, I was pleasantly surprised when I visited a local guesthouse.

Another long weekend enjoyed, well for some of us, and now we can all look forward to the long Easter weekend in April.

I was in Woolworths, (again you’re saying), and was looking at all their gorgeous Easter delights. I promise I’ll be checking out other shops stocking Easter treats over the next two weeks.

Six Rocky Road Eggs, made with creamy milk chocolate, marshmallows, coconut, honeycomb, puffed rice and roasted peanuts (in egg box) go for R99.95 and six Hot Cross Bun Chocolate Eggs, made with fragrantly spiced fruit mix in smooth milk chocolate (in egg box) are R59.99.

Their Bunny Mugg with hollow chocolate eggs is R99.99 and the Yummy Tummy Marsh Mallows (soft and fluffy mini marshmallows) are R14.99.

Easter Egg Hunt Bags (a set of four carrier bags for collecting Easter eggs) are R59.99. Easter Hunt Signs – Ready, Egg, Go! – are R49.99 for four. These are great prices, they look really super, and they should last a year or two if you look after them!

Surprise visit

I have to admit when the Heavenly Boutique Guesthouse, on the corner of Prairie and Valda streets, Townsview, was in the process of being built, I too was a little concerned, after public figures and local residents in that area voiced their objections because they were worried the said premises was being built as a ‘brothel’.

Imagine my surprise when I went along last week to meet the chief executive officer and owner, Dr Daniel Emamere, who gave me a tour of his beautiful hotel. (Read – Hotel owner cleans up, page ??). The guesthouse has got its four stars from the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa and offers 13 executive rooms beautifully decorated, all en suite.

I’d definitely stay there, and it also offers a sundeck which offers amazing views of the Johannesburg skyline, a perfect venue for businessmen and tourists alike. I can imagine myself sitting on the sundeck, sipping a glass of ice-cold wine, perfect!

That’s it for this week. Shop till you drop.
