Socks make therapy easier

The OT department at the hospital continues to improve its quality of treatment to patients and say they are grateful to have companies such as Bounce to support their efforts.

SOUTH Rand Hospital’s Occupational Therapy (OT) department has again done its share to help the hospital’s rehabilitation ward by securing a donation of socks from the trampoline park company Bounce.

GREAT: Look at me now.

Bounce is an indoor trampoline park that can be enjoyed by people of all ages – once wearing specially-designed socks to ensure good grip. Once used, Bounce donates the socks to various institutions.

Patients in the rehabilitation ward, who are either learning to walk or to push their wheelchairs with the assistance of one foot and one arm, who benefited from this donation.

INFORMATIVE MORNING: Rob Winter, Denise Haslecker, Ludwig Schaffner and Mike Winter.

The non-slip socks ensure patients do not slip and help them to gain their balance, making them more confident and able to achieve their goals sooner.

The team from Bounce visited the hospital to donate the socks to patients and also handed extra pairs to the OT department for future use. They then joined in on the fun and games of the rehabilitation unit’s Friday social group, handing out sweets and other goodies to patients and staff.

GIFT: The specially-designed non-slip socks which were donated.
