Alberton Primary wins inter-schools for 21 consecutive years

For the 21st consecutive year, Alberton Primary’s athletes beat all their competition!

ALBERTON PRIMARY School is very proud of itself and with good reason – recently, they have won the inter-schools event for the 21st year in a row!

The inter-schools event took place on February 9 at St Declan’s School, which is situated in Rietvlei Zoo Farm.

Here, multiple English schools from Alberton competed against each other in various sports. The schools that took part in the event included Brackenhurst Primary, Kenton Primary, Glenview Primary, Covenant College, and a combined St Declan’s and Grace Trinity. For the 21st consecutive year, Alberton Primary’s athletes beat all their competition!

Alberton Primary takes their sport performance, especially athletics, quite seriously. With nine sport coaches at the school, it becomes clear that childrens’ athletic performance is of high priority. “It is a lot of hard work, as you can imagine,” says Mrs Charmaine Smit, teacher and coach. “We have so many athletes in the school – it is madness to train them all so well.” She expresses her gratitude to everyone involved in this achievement.

The school would like to give credit to all the athletes, as well as their coaches: Mr Botha, Mr Florens, Mr Skinner, Mrs van Rooyen, Mrs Claassens, Mrs de Waal, Mrs Brussow, Ms Pearson and of course Mrs Smit. Congratulations to Alberton Primary for this wonderful achievement. Perhaps next year, they will turn that “21” into a “22” and make Alberton proud once again.

“A big thank you to all parents and schools in the area for participating and supporting this event,” added Michael Pinheiro, St Declan’s principal.
