Horrific accident claims a life

A man was killed and two other people were injured when three vehicles collided at the Columbine and Main Road intersection in Mondeor‚ on Saturday, December 17.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find one light motor vehicle lying on its roof in the middle of the road while two others were found parked nearby.

“On closer inspection‚ paramedics found two men lying trapped inside the overturned vehicle.

“Paramedics found that the passenger had sustained numerous‚ fatal injuries. Nothing could be done for the man and he was declared dead on the scene.

“The driver was found lying trapped and to be in a critical condition‚” said ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring. He said rescue services had to use jaws-of-life equipment to free the man from the vehicle. Once freed‚ paramedics treated him and provided him with advanced life support interventions.

“Once treated‚ the man was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. A third man was treated and transported by another service.”
