AACL receives donations from Grade Fours

Heather Cowie, AACL PRO, welcomed the learners and she said the donation will go a long way in taking care of the animals.

ANIMAL Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) received a R25 000 donation from the Grade Four learners of Trinityhouse Preparatory School in Randpark Ridge on Tuesday, October 11.

This is the tenth year the school has donated money, the cumulative total thus far since then, is an outstanding R187 000.

The Grade Fours have been hosting a market day at the school, more like an entrepreneurial day, raising funds.

“During the fund-raising events at school, we teach the Grade Fours entrepreneurship skills. We held a Candy and Cake Day where they sold cupcakes and sweets to other learners,” explained a teacher, Janet Taylor.

She said because of the passion they have for the animals, they thought this was a befitting gesture from them and the learners. “Our learners are taught how to take care of the animals and we encourage them to become volunteers, adopt a pet or buy some much-needed necessities for the animals,” she said.

Heather Cowie, AACL PRO, welcomed the learners and she said the donation will go a long way in taking care of the animals.

Debonairs Oakdene and their Rosettenville branch put a cherry on top when they surprised the learners with pizzas.
