Preggy evening kicks off at Kids Emporium

The idea behind the great event was to make moms feel special

THE VIP preggy evening was the first of its kind and proved to be a great success at Kids Emporium Mall of the South on Thursday, September 22.

Along with many other Kids Emporiums that hosted their first ones this year, the idea behind the great event was to make moms feel special and let them know that Kids Emporium supports them all the way.

The evening welcomed two speakers, Ashleigh Rocha and Laura Sevenus.

Ashleigh Rocha, owner of Moms and Babes Alberton/Meyersdal, spoke on the benefits and importance of sensory stimulation and integration from birth. Ashleigh provided all the details about the Moms and Babes workshops and exactly how they can benefit both Mom and Baby in the early years.

Kids Emporium was thrilled to have Baby Spa at the preggy evening. Baby Spa Brackenhurst opens its doors soon.

Laura Sevenus is the owner of the world’s first Baby Spa in Kensington, London. Passionate about swimming and babies since she was a child, Laura has dedicated her life to sharing the benefits and pleasures of learning to swim with young and old. She has over 40 years of experience in providing safe and beneficial water-based environments for your baby.

After swimming competitively at provincial level and touring South Africa with the American Water Follies synchronised swimming team, Laura worked with a Springbok swimming coach and then opened her first swimming school in South Africa in 1967.

In the early ’70s, she pioneered the BabySwim method in South Africa and then went on to help establish a swimming teachers and coaches’ qualification in Western Province.

She ran workshops in Europe and the UK in 1997, and three years later launched the Sevenus Swimming School in the UK with her daughter Kirsten.

Laura is a member of the South African Swimming Teachers and Coaches Association, as well as the Institute of Swimming Teachers and Coaches, UK. She has travelled internationally to gain qualifications in aquarobics, hydrotherapy, and Watsu.

She is the author of ‘Practically Swimming’, a specialist publication on swimming with your child.
