UPDATE: Vehicle up in flames near Comaro

On arrival paramedics found the three patients lying outside the vehicle.

THREE people were injured (one critical) after one of the vehicles involved in an accident, on the N12 West at the Comaro Road off-ramp, burst into flames on Saturday night, September 24.

Just after 19:00 EMER-G-MED’s RV5, M02 and A10 arrived on the scene.

According to the EMER-G-MED Facebook page it is believed that a car was reversing on the highway, after missing its off-ramp. The vehicle was then rear-ended at a high-speed by a bakkie, causing it to catch fire.

Fortunately, bystanders pulled the car’s occupants from the burning vehicle.

On arrival paramedics found the three patients lying outside the vehicle. The critically injured patient sustained a serious head injury and required rapid Advanced Life Support intervention. The patient was intubated and placed on life support before being rushed to a nearby trauma hospital.

The two other patients sustained moderate injuries and were transported to a nearby medical facility by another ambulance service.

Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze. Once the fire was out, the scene was handed over to local authorities for the relevant investigations.
