Murder suspects arrested

At about 17:30 at Jackson informal settlement in Eikenhof, Mondeor SAPS received a complaint of a dead person and on arrival they found an African male believed to be a Malawian national lying on his stomach with visible stab wounds.

MONDEOR SAPS held a police operation in the early hours of Friday, September 9, that led to the arrest of two suspects, following a murder that occurred on September 2.

At about 17:30 at Jackson informal settlement in Eikenhof, Mondeor SAPS received a complaint of a dead person and on arrival they found an African male believed to be a Malawian national lying on his stomach with visible stab wounds.

A docket of murder was opened and the police followed information which led to the arrest of the suspects, two African males aged 22 and 20. They were both charged with murder. SAPS continued with the operation and raided shebeens, where they confiscated weapons including pangas and knives. Mondeor SAPS has been in the process of closing down illegal shebeens and confiscating alcohol and this will be an on-going operation.

More suspects arrested

Mondeor SAPS made arrests between September 6 and 15. Business robbery – one, housebreaking – five, assault common – six, murder – two, shoplifting – 13, possession of dagga – 15, common robbery – 3, fraud – three and business break-in – three.
