Robbery – comment from Mall of the South management

“The safety and security of shoppers and tenants is of the utmost importance to Mall of the South’s Centre Management,” Hester Smith said.

HESTER Smith, Mall of the South Centre Manager, gave a holding statement, while they await the police investigation of the armed robbery.

“Mall of the South Centre Management can confirm that a robbery took place on Tuesday, September 6, at approximately 19:00 at one of the stores. Perpetrators made off with an undisclosed amount of goods. No shots were fired and no one was harmed during the incident.

According to Hester Smith (Mall of the South centre manager), “Suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of goods.  The Mall’s security responded as soon as they were aware of the incident and the suspects fled the Mall in a vehicle of which, the tyres were caught by the spikes upon exiting the car park.

SOS Security later recovered the vehicle and goods. The Mall’s Security is working closely with SAPS and SOS to finalise the investigation. We would like to thank SOS and SAPS with their continued support and assistance in this regard.”

“The Mall’s security immediately responded to the incident as soon as they became aware of it and is working with the South African Police Services to assist them with the investigation.

“The safety and security of shoppers and tenants is of the utmost importance to Mall of the South’s centre management,” Smith said.
