The official trailer for ‘Jou Romeo’, the latest romantic teenage comedy that will be enjoyed by the whole family, has just been released.

This film was produced by The Film Factory and will open in South African film theatres from December 23.

Marko Marais (Ruan Wessels) is the most popular guy in Monument High School, not only because he’s a jock, but also since he’s a cricket champion and heartbreaker. He and drama nerd Yvette (Elani Dekker) couldn’t be more different, but true love is on a collision course in this movie about romance, Shakespeare, cricket, friendship, and unconditional acceptance.

When ‘Romeo and Juliet’, the play that Yvette and her best friend Tyler (Christopher van der Westhuizen) have been planning since grade eight, is threatened because the sports-obsessed principal, Mister Kirby Potgieter (Pierre Breytenbach) cuts the arts and culture budget, Yvette decides to ask Marko’s help. But her intentions aren’t pure…

Yvette’s in for the shock of her life when she discovers there’s much more to the jock than a beautiful smile and loads of fans – and suddenly Marko realises he likes this pretty redhead more than he could have imagined.

Could Marko actually be Yvette’s real-life Romeo and she his Juliet?

Diaan Lawrence, Dirk Stoltz, Row-Lean, Sarahann Doherty and Carmin Coetzer also star in the film.
