Vir Das in comedy act ‘Battle Of DaSexes’
The stand-up format comedy has been performed regularly in India to ovations and rave reviews.
ACCLAIMED stand-up comedian-turned-big-screen actor and Bollywood Star, Vir Das, brings the international smash-hit comedy, Battle of DaSexes, to South Africa for a two weekend run: in Johannesburg’s Montecasino on May 27, 28 and 29.
Das, who is equally comfortable working on TV, film, theatre and live-comedy, says: “Battle of DaSexes is an insightful, fun and laugh-out-loud comedy-drama, all about the eternal battle between men and women. It is a battle not with arms and gun powder, but with bellies and eyeliner!”
Battle of DaSexes is written, directed and performed by Das and produced by global theatre production house: AGP World.
With tongues firmly placed in a multitude of cheeks, the show pits the women in the audience against the men.
“This act chronicles the differences between men and women from a scientific point of view. It begins with the sexes’ approach to language, goes onto analysing their bodies and spots the differences between their vanities,” Das explains.
”Then it progresses into literature, music, movies and covers leadership, politics, business, crime, sex and commitment. The show is laced with scientific facts!”
The Indian Express has called Das ”a comedian to watch out for” and ”India’s Answer to Jay Leno”.
The Hindustan Times calls him ”simply hysterical” and Delhi Times has listed him as one of Delhi’s Top Ten Dream Men.
The Pioneer has called him ”The Funniest Kid in India” and Verve has called him ”India’s only true comic”.
Das has various live production projects currently in repertory: Battle of DaSexes, as well as Walking on Broken Das and History of India: VIRitten.
He has approximately 35 plays, over 100 stand-up comedy shows, eight TV shows, two movies and six comedy specials behind him. He is also writing comedic columns for Femina, Maxim Exotica, DNA and Tehelka.

Battle of DaSexes will run in Johannesburg at the Teatro, Montecasino from Friday, May 27 to Sunday May 29. Friday and Saturday shows will be at 20:00 and Sunday at 15:00.
