Chain store robbed twice

Robbers targeted a chain store in the Carletonville CBD twice over the festive season.

The first robbery at Ackermans on the corner of Emerald and Ada Streets happened on the afternoon of 27 December.

Three unknown men entered the store at 14:10 and pretended to be clients. They then grabbed employees and forced them to accompany them to the manager’s office. The Xhosa-speaking thugs then grabbed money from a safe before fleeing the business.

Robbers struck the same store again just before closing time on Sunday, 7 January.

The staff were in the shop when a group of armed suspects stormed in. They forced the staff behind the counter with the cash registers.

Two more accomplices, one of whom was a woman, arrived with a crowbar, with which they forced open the cabinet displaying the cell phones.

The thugs grabbed cash and numerous cell phones and ran from the store. They are believed to have fled the scene in a white Toyota Etios.
