SAVF Carletonville tops

The SAVF Social Work Office in Carletonville and its manager emerged as the best in the country during the organisation's recent national awards.

The SAVF held its national congress at the ATKV Buffelspoort Resort on 18 and 19 October. This well-known non-profit organisation has branches across the country and has existed for more than 100 years.
This year was particularly special for our local representatives, as the manager of the Carletonville Social Work Office, Miss Lin-Clair van Wyk, walked off as the winner of the prestigious SAVF SW Congress Award. “Miss van Wyk is a valued member of the service management as the manager of the Social Work Office. She represents the social work office on different levels and is a valued representative of SAVF in the Carletonville community. She is known and respected as the manager of the social work office among several other role-players in the community, including the court, the police, clinics and other welfare organisations like Helpende Hand,” said the SAVF’s Gauteng regional manager, Ms Yolande Bosman, during the prize-giving.
The Carletonville Social Work Office manager has numerous tasks, including managing the five social workers and students in the office, among other things. She is also responsible for financial management and further drives fundraising actions.
The office manager must also maintain an excellent relationship with the Department of Social Development and handle outstanding adoption cases, among other things.
