Blue-light hijacking at N12 crossing

The Fochville police warn that blue-light hijackings are still common in their area.

The communication officer, Sgt Tunase Majola, says the latest incident happened at the crossing of the N12 and the R500 last week.

“The victim, driving from Johannesburg to Potchefstroom, says a man and woman in police uniform pulled him over in a white Polo Classic with a siren,” says Majola.

The “officers” said they wanted to search his vehicle and then pointed firearms at him.

Suddenly, a minibus taxi arrived at the scene, and several thugs got out and grabbed the driver. They blindfolded him and tied his hands and feet with his shoelaces, leaving him on the side of the road while they sped off with his vehicle.

“Motorists should be highly vigilant as incidents like this occur every week,” Majola warns.
