Man found dead at broken bridge

The resident noticed a body in the water next to the road while walking on the road between Fochville and Kokosi at approximately 10:00 on Tuesday 7 March. He stopped a passing municipal traffic officer who, in turn, contacted other authorities.
As far as could be determined, the victim, an unknown man, seems to have slipped while trying to walk over tree branches over a stream next to the road.
According to residents, the branches were put in this place after the original bridge washed away and the Merafong City Local Municipality did not repair it.
The communication officer of the police in Fochville, Sgt Elsie Tshonte, was unable to provide more information by the time that the newspaper went to print.
