A resident was murdered in cold blood near Carletonville taxi rank this week. This incident took place on Wednesday 18 October at about 19:30. As far as could be determined, two residents, Messrs Themba Mate (43) and Themba Kiwa (39) were sitting in Mate’s silver BMW in Amethyst Street.
The men were sitting near Red Cap Restaurant. All of a sudden two unknown men walked up to them. These men then pulled out firearms and started shooting at Mate and Kiwa. The criminals fired several shots and Mate was hit in the chest, while Kiwa was hit in his left arm.
Although bystanders called an ambulance which rushed the men to Carletonville Hospital, Mate passed away upon his arrival at the facility.
