Robbers attack municipal guards

Armed cable thieves attacked security officers watching over the Merafong City Local Municipality’s infrastructure this week.

According to the Carletonville police, this incident happened at about 19:00 on 20 July.
The guards of Mabotwane Security were patrolling at the electrical substation in Bloukrans Street when two unknown men attacked them. The assailants pointed firearms at them and forced them into a building at the substation.
The armed thugs guarded them while their accomplices stole about seven metres of cables from the facility.
The load shedding in the area between 06:00 and 08:30 the next morning assisted the criminals considerably.
The culprits only released the guards and ran from the scene when the load shedding ended.
