Tavern manager arrested for breaking curfew

The manager of a tavern in the Carletonville CBD was arrested last weekend for not adhering to the Covid-19 curfew regulations.

Members of the police in Carletonville’s crime prevention unit were busy with an operation during the early morning hours of Saturday 27 November. As they passed a tavern in Flint Street at approximately 00:50, they noticed that it was still open.
Taverns and other drinking places must close at 23:00, to give customers a time to get home before their curfew at midnight.
The police members went inside, arrested the manager for not adhering to the Covid-19 regulations while dispensing liquor, and made sure that the tavern closed for the night.
The police also arrested 16 people for driving under the influence of liquor during the same operation.
