Carletonville residents on their way to Potchefstroom for an outing spotted the body near the fork in the road past Doornfontein at about 10:30 on Sunday. They immediately called the police. When the police arrived at the scene, they discovered the body of a man wrapped in a grass mat. It seems he had been lying there for some time. Police suspect the body might be that of an illegal miner. Zama-zamas are known to be active near Doornfontein and often dump their deceased on the side of the road for others to find.
