The Carletonville police say the owner of a Volkswagen Polo Vivo was driving on this route when the incident occurred at about 19:00 on Sunday.
He was driving past the Rooipoort dumping site when he suddenly saw a blue BMW 3 Series behind him.
The driver of the BMW pushed him off the road and assailants from inside the BMW jumped out as soon as he had stopped.
They grabbed the driver and forced him into the back of his vehicle, drove to the N12 with him and dropped him near Westonaria.
