‘Hungry’ hijackers flee with truck

‘Hungry’ hijackers flee with truck.

Hijackers fled with a truck loaded with cornflakes and bottled water this week. According to WO Peter Masooa of the Carletonville police, the incident happened on the P111 at about 11:40 on 8 September. The driver of the truck, which was transporting Kellogg’s cornflakes and bottled water, was near Corobrik, driving towards Carletonville when he noticed a white double-cab bakkie behind him. The driver of the bakkie drove up next to him and pointed to something at the back of his truck. The driver, fearing that the “good Samaritan” may, in fact, be a hi- jacker, continued to drive on and only pulled off after some time. However, the same vehicle appeared again and four men jumped out. They grabbed the driver, tied him up and forced him into the bakkie. They drove to Waterpan near Westonaria where they pushed him out of their vehicle. The driver was not seriously injured and managed to report the case to the Westonaria police, after which the docket was transferred to Carletonville.
