Carletonville Hospital thanks Covid-19 heroes

During the past week, Carletonville Hospital held a function to thank personnel working with Covid-19 patients.

According to the hospital’s communication officer, Mr Matabo Letsoalo, Carletonville Hospital’s management held a function to recognise the frontline staff in the fight against the disease on Thursday, 22 July. They acknowledged the hard work of the staff in Ward 3 and Ward 4, which are the wards for confirmed Covid-19 cases, and staff members in the foodservice department.
“The hospital management is committed to employee value proposition (EVP) to boost staff morale, maintain good customer service and patient care to the Merafong community,” says Letsoalo.
The units received certificates of appreciation and other goodies, including chocolates. The CEO of the hospital, Mr Sonwabo Lindani, said the two Covid-19 wards had done exceptionally well since the start of Covid-19 in South Africa last year. He applauded the staff for their dedication and commitment to their work. Above all, the CEO appreciated the staff’s adherence to Covid-19 protocols and the proper use of PPE (personal protective equipment). He said staff members in these two wards are always vigilant, both at work and at home and had never tested positive for Covid-19.
The CEO said more infections happen when we are too loose around people we know, like col- leagues and family members, particularly during lunchtime when we take off our masks. He appealed to everyone to be extra cautious during this time.
Mr Charles Maseko, the hospital’s administration manager, said the kitchen staff is currently doing a great job in providing food for both Carletonville Hospital patients and Covid-19 patients who are admitted at the newly-opened Covid-19 Ward at AngloGold Ashanti Hospital daily. The managers of the respective units much appreciated the support they always receive from the hospital management. Mr Joshua Lenyatsa, the operational manager in Ward 3, said it wasn’t the first time his ward had received words of encouragement and goodies from management.
“We saw the same gesture from management last year and we appreciate it,” he said.
In conclusion, the hospital CEO encouraged managers in the units they visited to speak out if they experience any challenges regarding tools of the trade, so they can work well in a safe environment and provide excellent service to their patients.
